PRINCIPLAL OBJECTIVE
The primary aim and objective of this vintage school is to promote individual
Excellency within the learners. To assist them to learn how to function as
effective citizens in a democratic environment. Simultaneously, we strive to
enlighten them to express their diverse capabilities without fear, and to fulfil
their roles towards their respective blossoming as they grow to discover their
destinies without losing their ethnic backgrounds. .
Hidden amongst the tall Dinokeng trees, humbly cowed in the middle of nowhere is one of the most remarkable yet-to-be famous public school by the name of Klipdrif primary. It lies nondescriptly within long grass and wild nature. The area is popularly known as home to the Big Five (5) for one to really notice its existence, you have to sacrifice half-a-kilometer from the main Rust de Winter road approximately 3 kilometers past Kwalata Lodge. Instantly, one is greeted by a rustle of activity that soon elevates itself into a hive of comings and goings of cars and buses as they ferry lively learners in their school uniform. At first sight one might be tempted to believe that it is just a recent establishment that strives to thrive amongst the antelopes, zebras and giraffes that freely grazes close by.
Upon closer look, one is drawn to the men and women wearing khaki overalls. This support staff is comprised of dedicated and ever busy individuals who have been tasked in maintaining and cleaning this clandestine a haphazard structure that carries with it so much history that belies imagination. Beside these bundle of joys one cannot help but notice the calm endearing presence of teachers who are by all rights oblivious of any newcomer as they gently shepherd their learners about. Even as one greets them, they would 2 | P a g e respond briskly but kindly with eyes that keeps drifting to their little ones just so that they never not to lose sight of any of them. The building, I noticed, is comprised of container makeshift classes combined with a handful of brick-built ones that were set up in no particular order just so that there be some teaching taking place.
This is a public school that was accurately established in 1897. By then it was
just exclusively Afrikaans speaking establishment formed by early
farmers/settlers of the northern Transvaal. They had by then only 28 students
to fill the first two brick classes that still stand to this very day.
In 1939 this school then merged with a nearby Schoongezight primary to
consist of just about 107 students. There are so many remarkable tales
reminisced by various former students throughout the years. Notably, the
turnaround of this facility took place in 1995 when the first black student was
admitted to this school.
The smooth running of the school can never be possible without the ever engrossed team of 06 administrators, whose task ranges from high-profile confidential work, learner registrations to general admin duties. Grades that are offered are from R-7 only. We currently have Grade R-3 classes, whilst other Grades have 4 classes each. Students are being ferried from nearby townships by buses, taxis, etc. These learners enjoy travelling from all over the district just to come and form a community of ‘busy-bees’.

whilst others have since ‘rested’.
Throughout these years, since this school is right inside a game reserve where
the various kinds of animals and reptiles freely roam. Numerous encounters
with some animals are told as there was no protective wall around this facility.
Currently there is a wall that is being built to prevent any unwanted calamity.
We have a thriving School Governing Body that constantly joins hands with the
School Management Team in the day-to-day running of the school and to
identify means to more effectively run it. Time and again we take stock of the
journey travelled (1897-this day), evaluate ourselves and identify areas that
need changing/improvement.
These great educators have throughout the years committed to be abreast in
techno-materials. Projectors and laptops are currently also utilised in our
classrooms to render up-to-date state of the art curriculum/lessons as required
by school laws.
Amongst many dreams we have for this wonderful historical monument is for
us to build a much larger school. As part of our dream we aim to expand this
school in a few years to be a secondary level establishment. This will also
prevent learners to have to travel further than necessary to attain upper
grades.
Our community has expressed their support by coming on board through
various political and civil organisations. Private enterprises/companies such the
nearby mines and Dinokeng Nature reserves are also gradually but surely
coming through to ensure that our needs are met through donations and free
service.
